I always like to research the products I'm using or intrigued by. The Aminos that are part of the Purium "Core 3" claims seemed practically 'magical'! So I got online (see sources below) and found this amazing research supporting what I'd already learned about them: Lucà-Moretti M1, Grandi A, Lucà E, Muratori G, Nofroni MG, Mucci MP, Gambetta P, Stimolo R, Drago P, Giudice G, Tamburlin N. Abstract: Results of this multicentric study have shown that by giving 10 g (10 tablets) of Master Amino acid Pattern (MAP) as a substitute for dietary proteins, once a day, to 114 overweight participants undergoing the American Nutrition Clinics/Overweight Management Program (ANC/OMP), the participants' nitrogen balance could be maintained in equilibrium with essentially no calories (MAP 1 g=0.04 kcal), thereby preserving the body's structural and functional proteins, eliminating excessive water retention from the interstitial compartment, and preventing the sudden weight increase after study conclusion commonly known as the yo-yo effect. Study results have shown that the use of MAP, in conjunction with the ANC/OMP, has proven to be safe and effective by preventing those adverse effects associated with a negative nitrogen balance, such as oversized or flabby tissue, stretch marks, sagging of breast tissue, increased hair loss, faded hair color, and fragile or brittle nails. Also preventing those anomalies commonly associated with weight-loss diets, such as hunger, weakness, headache caused by ketosis, constipation, or decreased libido, the use of MAP, in conjunction with the ANC/OMP, allowed for mean weight loss of 1.4 kg (3 lb) per week. PMID: 14964348 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE] PubMed comprises over 25 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. PubMed citations and abstracts include the fields of biomedicine and health, covering portions of the life sciences, behavioral sciences, chemical sciences, and bioengineering. PubMed also provides access to additional relevant web sites and links to the other NCBI molecular biology resources.
PubMed is a free resource that is developed and maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). People always ask what being on this cleanse is like. I just found this video and I love it!

I first looked at this company because one of my favorite, brilliant heros - a true champion for women and the human race, Dr. Christiane Northrup, recommended the products. I was "in" when my normally freakish skin seemed to glow and be more balanced than it ever had been, consistently, from using the skin care products (the first big company, by the way, to rally against cancer-causing parabens in products). When I went to the Usana convention, years ago, I fell in love with the people at the top. Serious geeks with true heart. That's the kind of people I want for my nutritional information! With my financial ups and downs since then, I have let lots of things go, but I have never stopped using and trusting Usana. If you want to really take care of your health, or your skin, or your sugar addiction/ or weight - I encourage you to look - with an open mind and heart at these products. I'm happy to share them with you and would love to have you in my 'family tree of health". HUGS! (those are good for your health too!) Jennifer |

A spring snow storm is on its way and I'm totally intrigued by this Smoothie recipe - especially since reading this article > http://bit.ly/goodgrjuice ,
which says that cruciferous veggies are much healthier when cooked! So my modification of this recipe will be to par boil (just for a couple minutes) my kale before smoothifying it.
Brilliant!!
HOT Green Smoothie (serves 2)Blend in high speed blender till warmed up and smooth (about 1.5 minutes max). Pour into glass and enjoy the warmth and sweetness of this little beauty. I will sometimes substitute a cup of fresh pineapple OR mango for the apple and add some cilantro to the mix of greens – DELICIOUS! I’ve been doing this for several weeks now and my body is loving it and so are my taste buds.
- 2 cups HOT water – I heat mine in tea kettle on stove (NOT boiling, just hot)
- Aloe vera gel chunk
- Large handful of greens (whatever you have around: spinach, swiss chard, kale, etc.)
- 1 Organic apple
- 2 bananas – peeled
- 1 TB. chia seeds
- small knob of ginger root
- 4 – 5 dates (I use Deglet Noor or use 2 – 3 Medjool dates) to taste OR stevia

Do you give your teeth the gift of your time and care?
I am blessed to have great teeth. Straight and strong. No cavities! One crown (my inner princess loves that!).
As I get older, I realize how much I've taken ALL of my body parts for granted.
Of course, my body reminds me of that on a more regular basis now - thankfully.
And I know what to do, but I have a hard time maintaining GOOD habits! What is up with that?
Although my teeth are great, they seemed to not ever get very white.
Then one day, I happened upon a new piece of information - Fluoride can discolor some peoples teeth (not to mention it's actually quite toxic!)! Ah ha!
Now that I've switched to Fluoride -free toothpaste, I am noticing less discoloration.
What cracks me up about myself is that I can waste hours at a time doing nothing worthwhile, but to spend the full 2 minutes brushing my teeth (my clever toothbrush has a timer) is nearly impossible! Seems like forever.
So I'm reframing it. It's a convenient time for a 2 minute meditation - another good habit I'd like to add in.
I tried it- and it only seemed like half of forever. Noticing my breathing, letting go of thoughts, brushing my teeth...
I am so grateful for my wonderful, beautiful, healthy teeth. I'm excited to give them (and me) the gift of 2 minute meditations!

What a gift to be able to move! And, physical movement is also is crucial to good health.
As a CMT I know that just the movement of muscles helps with other vital components of life - like helping to pump blood to the heart and other organs and limbs.
As someone who loves to dance I know it 'just feels good' - yoga too.
Then why do I constantly battle with inertia?
When I do yoga, or dance or take a walk I always feel better- and when I do these things for a few days in a row it's rather remarkable how much better I feel- even when I sleep.
After many years of starting too hard, I am actually pretty good at just doing 'some'. A little. Something that feels good but doesn't strain my muscles.
My guess for the moment is that self care, and opening into my body, my self is emotionally scary to me. In so much of my life, I'd rather hide.
Yes, there's a battle. In my relationships, my career - I know it's good, I know I can do it (probably better than I think) and yet, I just would rather hide. Is this just a fierce habit that won't let go?
As I get older, I NEED to move - to help my body feel better. If I don't, it just feels worse. Oiy!
And so I will remember that dance, and yoga, and a walk in nature are all to me a spiritual connection - a body prayer - an actual delight!
This is the frame I'll put around this practice of movement - a frame that inspires me to get moving!
Lovely!
What will your 'frame' be to inspire you to move?

"The only question I had for them was, "are you willing to have real change and pay for the best of the best?"

My Dad was into health food and Macrobitoic cooking and all that - "back in the day".
As my path unfolded into the world, I worked at a "health food store", Alfalfa's Market in Denver, which was one of the front runners in taking health food from the realm of cardboard flavored stuff for 'wacky health nuts' to fresh, delicious gourmet fare that is sustainable for the earth, our bodies and our tastebuds!
I'm actually quite proud of myself for contributing my talents and enthusiasm to growing that part of our world
for everyone's benefit.
Yay me!
Yay organics now appearing at the 'regular' grocery store!
So ANYWAY - what about the vitamins?
Well, 10 years in the Health food industry under my belt, and with an undying thrist for knowledge, I have learned a LOT about Vitamins, and natural remedies of all sorts. So, I know my sh*t.
I also have a lot of knowledge about industry pioneers whose wisdom and insight and courage have endured over the decades. Which, given the way all things health-related flop-flop from being "The BEST" to "oops, NO - do NOT ingest that" (whether we're talking fats, sugar, herbs, sunshine), it helps to be aware of folks whose ideas and knowledge withstand the test of time and trends.
One of those people is Dr. Christiane Northrup, Womens' Health Expert, Visionary Health Pioneer, Wellness Speaker, and new York Times Best-Selling Author.
To say the least...
After watching several of her PBS specials and years of utilizing her excellent book, "Womens Bodies, Womens Health" as a go to resource, she has utterly earned my respect. So when I found out about the Vitamins that she recommends and the company she finds to be most trustworthy, I climbed on board.
Long story short-
I have been using vitamins and skin care and 'foods' from Usana ever since.
They are top quality, they work for me (which for my very wierd skin, the skin care is amazing),
and even trough the most financially difficult times of my life, I have ALWAYS kept buying and using these products.
For my ongoing health,
I am willing and committed to having the best of the best!

Apple of my eye.
The rosy apple of your cheek.
Apple trees blossoming. Bees hummmmmm
Organic apples in so many crispy, delicious flavors
Yes, I know, I'm supposed to narrow my focus, narrow my target audience.
But the fact is that everything is related to everything. We are all one. You, me, "them" (nose tilted up), the earth, the water...
So when I talk about health, I can tell you about food, about sustainable agriculture, about massage and breathing and the divine beloved who I can turn my worries over to...
For TRUE health, we can check on all these things. It doesn't have to be overwhelming. I am the Queen of overwhelm!
But I know from years of experience in the health industry in many of it's forms, that each tiny step I take becomes a part of me and adds to the glowing radiant health that is mine to embrace.
Allow me to offer you a step - a tidbit - an idea - once or twice a week for you to use in honoring your own health.
